Are you a slave to anything? We may not even recognize our sin, it takes study, prayer and reflection. Purging ourselves of life long sin is difficult and in reality may take several attempts. The Lord knows your heart of repentance, when we fail he cleanses us with his amazing grace.
Through faith in Christ we are set free and become a slave of righteousness to God. Allow your thoughts to focus on him and your goals will be achieved.
Romans 6:17-18
But thanks be to God, that you have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.
